How to do a DIG on a Mac

dig (domain information groper) is a network administration command-line tool for querying Domain Name System (DNS) servers.
It can be very helpful for diagnosing problems with domain pointing and is a good way to verify that your configuration is working.

To perform a dig, perform these steps:

1. Open a terminal window: click Applications, click Utilities, and then click Terminal.

2. In the terminal, type dig command followed by the options and domain you want to find information about. In this example, we'll use the option +trace followed by the domain www.vectorvest.com

That's it. Now take a screenshot, or copy the information into an email and send it to whoever asked for the information.
